Peter Haas offers Bangladesh to buy more Boeings

US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas held a meeting with officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. He offered to buy more Boeing in the meeting held at Biman’s headquarters in Balaka on Tuesday.

An official present at the meeting, who did not wish to be named, said that Peter Haas proposed to take more Boeings in the meeting. However, he was not immediately informed about this proposal by Biman.

He also said that the proposal of Peter Haas will be informed to the ministry first. It may then be presented on board the aircraft.

According to sources, there is a proposal to buy Dreamliner Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft from the United States. Apart from discussing its progress, the meeting also discussed after-sales service, parts and other terms of Boeing’s fleet of aircraft.

Chairman of Biman said in the pre-arranged meeting. Mustafa Kamal Uddin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Shafiul Azim and other officials were present. Peter Haas was accompanied by Boeing representatives.

Biman’s CEO Shafiul Azim told Samakal that various issues of Boeing have been discussed with the US ambassador.

Of the 21 aircraft currently in Biman’s fleet, 16 are Boeings and the remaining 5 are Dash-8s.
