Alexander Mintitsky, the ambassador of Russia working in Dhaka, said that Russia is against any kind of sanctions in Bangladesh by the United States or the Western world.

He said this at the ‘Talks with the Ambassador’ program organized by the ‘Swadhinota Sangbadik Forum (Freedom Journalist Forum)’ at the National Press Club on Thursday (December 7). President of the program Khairul Alam gave the opening speech and press club general secretary Shyamal Dutta spoke.

The ambassador said, “Russia does not recognize the unilateral ban of the Western world. We are only complying with the sanctions of the UN Security Council.

He said, ‘I hope nothing will happen here. You asked—what might happen in the future? But we don’t know what will happen in the future.

When asked whether the Western world is interfering in the internal affairs of Bangladesh, Alexander Mintitsky said, “Of course it is.” Spokesperson (of the Russian Foreign Ministry) Maria Zakharova said in her statement about the recent intervention.

The Russian spokesperson said that several other western world ambassadors, including the US ambassador, were involved in this (internal interference).

Regarding Bangladesh’s Indo-Pacific outlook, the Russian ambassador said, ‘We see that Bangladesh’s Indo-Pacific outlook is against any kind of alliance. It talks about cooperation with different countries for economic development. It is very good.’

The policy of Bangladesh is ‘friendship with all, enmity with none’ and this is very important. We think that Bangladesh should continue this, he said.
