Wedding bells are ringing for actor Parambrata Chatterjee. Widely known for his contribution to Bengali and Hindi cinema, the actor has reportedly married his girlfriend-mental health activist-singer, Piya Chakraborty today, November 27. For the unaware, Piya is musician Anupam Roy’s former wife.
The wedding rumours of Parambrata Chatterjee and Piya Chakraborty have been going on for a while now. Aajtak Bangla, earlier today, reported that the duo will get married in a close-knit ceremony comprising friends and family in Kolkata on November 27. As per the latest updates, Parambrata and Piya had a registry wedding at the former’s Kolkata residence in the afternoon today.
As per an ETimes report, Parambrata’s close friend producer-director Aritra Sen, Piya’s friend Ratnaboli Roy were present at the ceremony. Reportedly, they wore traditional ensembles for the big day and enjoyed a traditional Bengali meal afterwards. The couple also plan to host a reception for their industry friends later.
The ‘just married’ couple is yet to announce an official statement on the matter.
Earlier this year, rumours were rife that Parambrata Chatterjee and Piya Chakraborty got married secretly. However, the actor quashed it as untrue. In fact, when Piya and Anupam got divorced in 2021, the buzz was that Piya made the decision since she was in love with Parambrata. However, the ‘Aranyak’ actor denied it at the time.
Parambrata has always maintained a ‘good friends’ with Piya and once told the media that he was very upset with such discussions.
Parambrata and Piya have never publicly opened up about their relationship. Reports suggest that of late, Parambrata had increased his frequency to Piya’s house. Recently, when Parambrata was in London for a long-scheduled shoot, Piya paid him a visit. Just a few days back, Parambrata was seen with Piya and her mother at a restaurant in Park Street, Kolkata.
All that we are waiting for now, is for the rumoured couple to make their wedding Insta-official.
