Light to moderate rain likely over country

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at different parts of the country, a met release said today.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Khulna divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi division,” it said.

Moderately heavy to heavy falls is also likely to occur at several places over the country, said the met office forecast valid for the next 24 hours from 9am today.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.

The monsoon depression over west Bengal-Bihar and adjoining area moved to West-northwestwards and now lies over North Chattisgarh and adjoining area.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, the center of the land depression to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 35.0 degrees Celsius at Sylhet and minimum temperature today was 24.8 degrees Celsius at Bandarban.

Country’s maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 156 millimeters (mm) at Sitakunda.

The sun sets at 06-41 PM today and rises at 05-28 AM tomorrow in the capital.
