Bangladesh Pratidin seminar today: PM to deliver speech in Columbia University

A seminar titled ‘The Bangladesh Economy: Prospects and Challenges’ will be held at the world-famous Columbia University in New York City today.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will deliver lecture as the chief guest.

Former Bangladesh Bank Governor and Emeritus Professor of Dhaka University Dr Atiur Rahman will present the keynote paper while Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will be the special guest in the programme.
Bangladesh Pratidin, the highest circulated Bengali daily in Bangladesh, is organising the seminar. The seminar will be presided over by the Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam. Professor of economics at the State University of New York (SUNY) Biru Paksha Paul will moderate the event.

The panellists of the seminar are— Prof Nazrul Islam, former UN Chief of Development Research Team, Prof Farida Khan, Professor of Colorado University, Dr Sufian A Khandaker, Water and Environmental Specialist, Michael S. Steckler, Professor of Columbia University and Professor Golam Matabar, director of the Department of Social Work at Monmouth University in New Jersey.

At this time, State Senator (Georgia) Sheikh Rahman, State Senator (Connecticut) Md Masudur Rahman State Representative (New Hampshire) Abul B Khan and Melbourne City Mayor Mahabubul Alam Taib will give their observations

Students will also be in the audience of this very important seminar. Distinguished people including brave freedom fighters have been invited. As the number of seats is limited, only invitees will be allowed in the seminar.

The seminar will continue from 10:00am to 01:00pm (New York time).
