PM announced the mourning day

The nation is observing a Day of Mourning today for the Palestinians killed in recent Israeli attacks.

All government, semi-government, autonomous and private institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad are keeping the national flag at half-mast in observance of the mourning day.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the announcement on Thursday while addressing a program arranged in Sarak Bhaban in Dhaka’s Tejgaon.

Israel’s military campaign has levelled entire city blocks in Gaza, killing 4,137 Palestinians, mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, reports AFP.

Some 2.4 million Palestinians live in the densely populated enclave, and almost half have been displaced, according to the UN.

Israel has cut off supplies of water, electricity, fuel and food to the long-blockaded territory.
