Obaidul Quader announces programs at a rally near Baitul Mukarram.

The ruling Awami League has announced that the party will hold ‘peace rally’ across the country on Sunday.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the programmes from the party’s rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram mosque in the capital today.

In his speech as chief guest at the peace rally, Quader said those who attacked the Chief Justice’s house and the police, they will not be exempted.

Earlier in the afternoon, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced dawn-to-dusk hartal across the country for Sunday.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement from a rally held at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.

The hartal was announced protesting the attacks of the law enforcers and the ruling party men on BNP’s rally.

BNP was holding the rally to realise its one-point topple government demand.

Meanwhile, a policeman has died from injuries suffered during violent clashes between law enforcers and the BNP at the Dainik Bangla intersection in the capital.

Police say, he suffered an injury to the head and was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
