Members of Bangladesh Army have been deployed to tackle the ongoing flood and landslide situation in Chattogram and Bandarban.

Chief of Army Staff Gen Shafiuddin Ahmed issued an order on Tuesday deploying the army, the Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) said in a press statement.

The army men will actively assist the local administration in rescue work, emergency relief distribution, providing medical services, and overall management of the flood situation.
They will continue their humanitarian service until the flood situation alleviates, it said.

Other sections of the army are closely monitoring the flood situations in their respective areas, the statement said.

Meanwhile, around three lakh inhabitants of several upazilas in the Chattogram district are marooned, following ceaseless rainfall over the past four days.
