The turnout was 43 per cent in Canada, but none raised a question: Canadian MP Arya

“The turnout was 43 per cent in Canada too but none raised a question on this. The matter to consider is whether the people could cast their votes.” Chandra Arya, a Canadian parliament member, who has visited Bangladesh national election as an independent observer, expressed his views about the poll turn out in this way.

On Monday, a day after the election, in a press briefing in Jatiya Press Club of Dhaka, in response to a question of a journalist, Mr. Arya said, those who boycotted the election, this is their issue, not of their’s.

Whether those who came to vote could cast their ballots without any obstruction is more important than the turnout rate, he said adding that is why there is no reason to question the acceptability of this election.
