US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter D Haas has returned to Dhaka after his visit to Colombo. He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11:30 a.m. today, Monday by a flight of Sri Lankan Airlines (Flight Number-UL-189). Airport sources confirmed this information.
Earlier, US Ambassador left Dhaka for Sri Lanka on November 16. He has been active for several months focusing on the national elections of Bangladesh. In this, various discussions started about his foreign visit.
However, according to diplomatic sources, the government was aware of Peter Haas going on leave. He informed the Ministry of External Affairs late last month about going on leave on November 15. That is why he had a meeting with Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen on November 2. Because, after that, from November 5 to 14, the foreign secretary had a visit to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Switzerland.
