Within a week, the price of onion and other commodities will come under control.
Those involved in manipulation of consumer goods including onions are being identified and brought under the law. According to the sources of the Ministry of Commerce, the price of onion will come under control within the next week.
Besides, the Consumer Rights Council has said that hoarders and those involved in food manipulation will be brought under the law. Through the intelligence agency, information is being taken about where and how the hoarders have stored onions in different parts of the country.
Apart from bringing the price of onion under control within a week, it is also planned to bring the prices of daily necessities to a reasonable price between February and March. In this regard, the inter-ministerial coordinated committee is also taking necessary steps along with continuous monitoring.
Imports are also being emphasized to control the prices of daily necessities on the occasion of fasting. Besides, a decision has also been taken to waive or reduce VAT and duty on some products.
The government has already taken various steps, including increasing imports from alternative countries and conducting nationwide campaigns by the Consumer Affairs Department.
