Govt committed to promoting environment friendly building materials-Housing Minister

Housing and Public works Minister R.A.M Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury today said the government is committed to promote environment friendly and cost-effective building materials in country’s construction sector.

The Minister said this while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a state-of-the art factory dedicated to produce AAC Blocks and Panel at Jagir area under the ownership of Max Group as chief guest.

The Minister said thousands of brickfields are running in and around us which is releasing harmful smokes continuously disrupting our environment that is very much injurious to public health as well as others animals.

The Minister underscored the necessity of using environment friendly construction materials in lieu of clay build bricks. He also urged the others construction materials entrepreneurs to make environment friendly materials.

The function was addressed, among others by, Md. Nabirul Islam, Secretary Ministry of Housing and Public Works, RAJUK Chairman Major General Siddiqur Rahman, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department Mohammad Shamim Akhter, Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture Mir Monzurur Rahman, Director General of the Housing and Building Research Institute Md. Ashraful Alam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Manikganj Rahana Akther and Superintendant of Police Golam Azad Khan.
Engineer Ghulam Mohammad Alomgir, Chairman, Max Group chaired the function.
