President Mohammed Shahabuddin today asked all, including the inhabitants of Pabna, to work under one umbrella to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh by 2041 as he addressed a reception, accorded to him in a city hotel.
“There will be no division in development . . . let’s work all, irrespective of party affiliations, under the same umbrella to ensure the development and welfare of the country and its people,” the President told the function organized by the Pabna Development Foundation (PDF) this evening.
Noting that the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to fulfill the demands and hopes of the people, he said, the way the country is moving forward to realize the cherished dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, the country would become a developed nation by 2041.
About the overall development of Pabna, his home district, the President said this ongoing development must effect the local development of Pabna definitely.
“So, everyone should work together,” the Head of the State told his district people gathered here, under the banner of Pabna Development Foundation to welcome him.
The president, also Pabna Development Foundation president, said everyone believes that he can play a role in the development of Pabna since its inception.
“And so many impossible tasks have already been achieved with the united efforts of all Pabna people,” he added.
A valiant freedom fighter, also the former student leader, President Shahabuddin said, “I was a valiant freedom fighter indeed. I directly took part in the 1971 Liberation War as a worker but not as a commander. But I was a skilled organizer and activist”.
He categorically called upon everyone to work together for the development for Pabna and the country as well.
Jatiya Sangsad’s Deputy Speaker Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md Sabirul Islam, PDF vice-president valiant freedom fighter Md Baby Islam, vice-president Prof. Shibjit Kumar Nag, vice-president Md Shafiqul Islam and General Secretary Md Salim Reza also spoke on the occasion.
The Pabna Development Foundation presented a commemorative Charest to the President at the reception programme.
A documentary “A Legend” based on the life and works of President Mohammed Shahabuddin, popularly known to his locals as ‘Chuppu’ was screened on the occasion.
The President enjoyed the documentary.
The reception ceremony was followed by a cultural programme and a dinner.
